Carpet Tile vs. Broadloom
Carpet is specified in commercial environments where acoustic absorption, comfort underfoot, and aesthetics outweigh the long-term maintenance cost of hard surfaces. We install both — the choice depends on space type, design intent, maintenance plan, and lifecycle cost preferences.
Carpet Tile (Modular)
Individual tiles can be replaced when damaged or stained. Phased installation is simpler. Underfloor access for data and HVAC. Design flexibility for pattern mixing and directional layouts. Lower waste than broadloom.
Broadloom (Roll Goods)
12 or 15-foot widths. Specified for large open areas where seam minimization matters, budget-driven projects, hospitality corridors with continuous patterns, and stairways where broadloom wraps treads and risers more cleanly than tile.
Tear-Out & Disposal
Existing carpet, broadloom, or pad removed and palletized. Adhesive residue removed via the Clean Slate Process — no grinding, no aerosolization of pre-1985 mastics. Manufacturer take-back recycling where available.
Substrate Prep & Moisture Mitigation
Tile is less tolerant of substrate ridges than broadloom. We verify flatness, apply self-leveling compound or skim coat where needed, and test moisture per ASTM F2170 — mitigating where readings exceed adhesive thresholds.
Low-VOC Adhesive Systems
Green Label Plus certified pressure-sensitive adhesives — the standard for occupied environments. Hard-set for permanent broadloom bonds; release adhesives for tile applications prioritizing replacement and underfloor access.
Phased Installation for Occupied Floors
Zone the floor into sections. Move furniture within the zone. Install in cleared zone using low-VOC adhesive that off-gasses in 2–4 hours. Return furniture and open the zone. After-hours and weekends standard.
